The government of Ontario as part of Directive 2, in association with our professional Colleges has advised that there can be a slow return to opening therapy clinics.
York Paediatric Therapy is now open. In order to meet Ministerial and College guidelines, we will be implementing the following:
You and your child will be screened on the phone for COVID-19 symptoms when scheduling an appt.
Appointments will be staggered to minimize the presence of more than one family walking through the clinic at the same time
We are requesting that only one parent/caregiver attend with the child to better adhere to physical distancing practices. Siblings may attend only if there are no alternatives for childcare arrange this but we ask that you make every effort to do so for the safety of all
Please do not arrive any earlier than 5 minutes before your appointment to get ready. As we will keep the clinic door locked when treating to avoid unscreened people coming into the clinic, please text your therapist from your car when you arrive, so you can quickly be lead into the clinic
You and your child will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms when you arrive. The therapist will also be screened via a thermometer. If you or your child are presenting with any symptoms, the appointment will be rescheduled and we will advise you to seek medical attention
You and your child will need to wash or sanitize your hands prior to and after your appointment
We are asking parents to please wear a mask. Please bring one with you. We can supply disposable gloves for your child’s session and a mask if you don’t have one
Only equipment and materials necessary for the appointment will be present in the treatment rooms.
Therapists will be wearing the necessary PPE
Please schedule your next appointment and make payment with your therapist before leaving the treatment room, to limit unnecessary stops at the front desk. We continue to accept a cheque, and e-transfer for payment
Our therapists will be:
Wearing masks, face shields, and gloves as well
Washing/sanitizing their hands before and after each client visit
Change their tops/shirts after each client
Taking time after each client visit to disinfect the treatment room and all materials used
Disinfecting high traffic areas (i.e. door handles, washroom, chairs) regularly throughout the day
Keeping a confidential list of client names and contact numbers each day for contact tracing as mandated by the government
Prior to coming to therapy, please let your child know that:
They need to bring a zip lock bag with their name on it that has their own pencils/pencil sharpener, markers, erasers, and scissors to keep them safe and germ free
Mommy/daddy/caregiver will need to wear a mask
The therapist will be wearing a mask and/or face shield as well. It is still the same therapist they saw before and she is really happy to see them again
You will need to wash your hands before and after each session
Lots of things will be the same at the clinic, like using the gym, playing games with the therapist etc.
The government and our professional colleges are still recommending that virtual appointments be considered first. However, it is understood that virtual appointments do not work for all families and that some families may need in-clinic visits. At York Paediatric Therapy Services Inc, we continue to strive to “Providing the Steps to Independence''.
